Do you love hiking in the woods? Join us at Marconi Beach, where our walk through the Marconi Wildlife Management Area will include a visit to Fresh Brook, home to a small village in the 1800s that later served as a military base during WWII. Our walk ends with a visit to the Marconi Beach bluff for a spectacular ocean view.
Meet at 8:45 AM to sign in and stretch. We’ll begin walking promptly at 9:00 AM. Hosted by Dorrie Scipione Ross with Sweep TBD. Please read to the bottom for directions to our meeting point.
—Prerequisite:Instructional clinic and ability to walk for 4 miles at a moderate/steady pace over varied terrain with only a few brief stops
—Distance: 4 miles. No turn-back or shorter option.
—Pace: Moderate and steady, with only occasional stops.
—Terrain: Hard pack trail (single track and wider paths), fire road, many roots and pinecones, some hills and inclines. The area has been cleared from the storm, but there is a good bit of tree detritus on the paths in some areas.
For Your Safety: Consider the weather forecast when booking a walk. WATER MUST BE CARRIED ON ALL WALKS! In consideration of personal and group safety, if you arrive without water, you will not be allowed to walk. Dress for the weather and protect yourself from the elements. Choose appropriate footwear for trail conditions. Use repellent to protect yourself from ticks, which are active year-round. Wear blaze orange for safety as it is turkey hunting season.

—Restrooms and water are not available. Bring tissue in a plastic bag in case of a bio break need.
—If your plans change, kindly cancel your booking at least 24 hours in advance of walk start time so other walkers may join.
This walk is authorized under a National Park Service Special Use Permit.

Directions: Meet near the bath house at Marconi Beach, Wellfleet.
—Rt. 6 to Marconi Beach Road in South Wellfleet.
—After turning onto Marconi Beach Road, keep right at the fork and follow the road to its end at Marconi Beach.
—Park near the bath house.
—We are NOT meeting at the Marconi Station Site.
