On this late afternoon low tide walk we’ll go from sea level at Cold Storage Beach, with its rich stories of the First People and fish packing and bayberry candle industries, to High Head’s hilly heathlands and a panoramic view of the Cape tip. Worked up an appetite? Optional post-walk stop at the Salty Market-Farmstand taco/tapas pop-up (bring $).

Meet at 2:45 to sign in and stretch. We’ll  begin walking promptly at 3. Hosted by Sue Moynihan with Sweep TBD. Read to the bottom for directions to our meeting point.

Prerequisite: Instructional Clinic, prior intermediate-level walks, and ability to maintain a steady pace for 3+ miles over hilly and sandy terrain.
Distance: ~3.4 miles
Pace: Moderate and steady, 22/23-minute miles with brief view and water stops
Terrain: ~2.8 miles hard-packed sand at low tide and ~.6 miles wooded trail with hills and roots

For Your Safety: Consider the weather forecast when booking a walk. WATER MUST BE CARRIED ON ALL WALKS! In consideration of personal and group safety, if you arrive without water, you will not be allowed to walk. Dress for the weather and protect yourself from the elements. Choose appropriate footwear for trail conditions. Use repellent to protect yourself from ticks, which are active year-round.

• Limit 1 walk per day.
• Wear your CCNW ID badge.
• No restrooms or water. Bring tissue in a plastic bag in case of a bio break need.
• Carry bug spray.
• Sand or mud baskets helpful for beach segment.
• Consider sun protection.
• If your plans change, kindly cancel your booking at least 24 hours in advance of walk start time so other walkers may join.

Location: Meet at Cold Storage Beach, on the bay side, North Truro. This is NOT Cold Storage Beach, Dennis.

Directions:

From the Mid & Lower Cape—Rt. 6 to Highland Road exit in Truro. Left onto Highland Road. At Salty Market, cross Shore Road and take Pond Road to the Cold Storage Beach Parking lot.

From Provincetown—Rt. 6 to Highland Road exit in Truro. Turn right onto Highland Road. At Salty Market, cross Shore Road and take Pond Road to the Cold Storage Beach Parking Lot.
