The Outer Cape has long been a muse for artists and writers. On this walk at beautiful Duck Harbor Beach, with its long views and abundant shells and stones, we’ll practice the art of observation, and pause to sketch or journal about a found object or the scene, or just reflect quietly on nature—your choice, personal, and for you only. All supplies provided, and no art or writing experience needed. To stay dry, please bring a plastic bag to sit on.

Meet at 8:45 am for sign-in and stretching to begin walking promptly at 9. Hosted by Sue Moynihan with Sweep TBD. Read to the bottom for directions to our meeting point. 

Prerequisite: Instructional Clinic
Distance: 1.5-2 miles, wind/weather-dependent. No shorter or turn-back option.
Pace: Slow and meandering.
Terrain: Hard-packed bayside sand at low tide

For Your Safety: Consider the weather forecast when making your RSVP decision. WATER MUST BE CARRIED ON ALL WALKS! In consideration of personal and group safety, if you arrive without water, you will not be allowed to walk. Dress for the weather and choose appropriate footwear for trail conditions. Use repellent to protect yourself from ticks, which are active year round. 

• Limit 1 walk per day.
• Wear your CCNW ID badge.
• Sand or mud baskets helpful.
• Turkey season ends in the National Seashore on 5/16; no need to display blaze orange on this walk.
• Open and exposed route. May be windy. Sunglasses helpful in case of blowing sand or bright sun.
• No restrooms or water available. Bring tissue in a plastic bag in case of a bio break need.
• If your plans change, kindly cancel your booking at least 24 hours in advance of walk start time so other walkers may join.

This walk is authorized under a National Park Service Special Use Permit.

Walk may be canceled, changed, or rescheduled for weather (steady rain or snow, ice, windchill of 19 degrees or lower) or other reasons.
