A beautiful walk (outgoing tide with low at 9:45 am) along Nantucket Sound. Historic Stage Harbor lighthouse, views of Monomoy and Morris Island. Chatham is literally on the elbow of the Cape.
Meet at 9 am to sign-in and stretch. We’ll begin walking promptly at 9:15 am. Hosted by Anne Dickson with Sweep TBD. Please read to bottom for directions to our meeting point.
—Prerequisite: Instructional Clinic, plus two 2 CCNW walks, and ability to beach walk the distance.
—Distance:2 miles. No turn-back or shorter option.
—Pace: moderate with some stops along the way.
—Terrain: mixed: some soft, but mostly hard packed sand. Short asphalt causeway.
For Your Safety: Consider the weather forecast when booking a walk. WATER MUST BE CARRIED ON ALL WALKS! In consideration of personal and group safety, if you arrive without water, you will not be allowed to walk. Dress for the weather and protect yourself from the elements. Choose appropriate footwear for trail conditions. Take precautions against the sun, such as sunscreen and a hat. Use repellent to protect yourself from ticks, which are active year-round.
We will walk out and back along the beach on Nantucket Sound to Stage Harbor Channel.
—Limit 1 walk per day.
—Wear your CCNW ID badge.
— Rubber tips, sand baskets optional. Open beach so sunglasses, hat, skin protection handy. Could be windy so lite jacket. I update Weather day before so check this event in comments.
—Restrooms are not available. Bring tissue in a plastic bag in case of a bio break need.
—If your plans change, kindly cancel your booking at least 24 hours in advance of walk start time so other walkers may join.
Walk may be canceled, changed or rescheduled for weather or other reasons. Cancellation decision will be made at least 2 hours in advance. **Check your email (including spam) before driving to the walk.**
If walk is canceled, registrants will receive a system generated email and the walk will no longer be visible in the event listing or on the calendar.
DIRECTIONS: 385 Hardings Beach Rd. Off Barn Hill Rd. in Chatham. Plenty of parking- meet at first lot upon entering beach. Park on left side facing beach.
