Join me on this “City to Forest” walk! We will walk through a quiet neighborhood along the Herring River, past lots of trees and an old cemetery and then to the fish ladder and around the West Reservoir with many water views.
Meet at 8:45 a.m. to sign in and stretch. We’ll begin walking promptly at 9:00 a.m. Hosted by Rosemary DeVito with TBD Sweep. Please read to the bottom for directions to our meeting point.
—Prerequisite: Instructional Clinic; plus the ability to walk on uneven terrain for the prescribed distance and pace
—Distance: 3.8 miles. No turn-back or shorter option.
—Pace: Moderate
—Terrain: A combination of well-worn paths (with roots, rocks, hills), and asphalt roads. Rubber tips recommended.
For Your Safety: Consider the weather forecast when booking a walk. WATER MUST BE CARRIED ON ALL WALKS! In consideration of personal and group safety, if you arrive without water, you will not be allowed to walk. Dress for the weather and protect yourself from the elements. Choose appropriate footwear for trail conditions. Use repellent to protect yourself from ticks, which are active year-round. Wear blaze orange for visibility and safety during Spring turkey hunting season.
—Limit 1 walk per day.

—Restrooms and water are not available. Bring tissue in a plastic bag in case of a bio break need.
—If your plans change, kindly cancel your booking at least 24 hours in advance of walk start time so other walkers may join.
Walk may be canceled, changed, or rescheduled for weather or other reasons. Cancellation decision will be made at least 2 hours in advance. **Check your email (including spam) AND this walk listing before driving to the walk. ** If a walk is canceled, registrants will receive a system-generated email, and the walk will no longer be visible in the event listing or on the calendar.
Directions/Location: Meet at the East Trailhead Parking Area next to the trail kiosk.
From Great Western Road, take Bell’s Neck Road (dirt) south.
Drive 0.20 mile and on the left will be a small trailhead kiosk and parking area.
