Walk through the an area once home to an iron smelting foundry and a fishing club patronized by a president. The ponds now provide habitat for numerous species of waterfowl including a pair of mute swans.

- Distance: 4.5 No turn-back or shorter option.
- Pace: moderate
- Terrain: wooded trails with rocks, roots, and some inclines. Approx 300′ elevation
For Your Safety: Consider the weather forecast when making your RSVP decision. WATER MUST BE CARRIED ON ALL WALKS! In consideration of personal and group safety, if you arrive without water, you will not be allowed to walk. Take precautions against the sun, such as sunscreen and a hat. Use repellent to protect yourself from ticks, which are active year-round. Wear blaze orange during hunting season.

- Restrooms and water are not available. Bring tissue in a plastic bag in case of a bio break need.
- If your plans change, kindly cancel your booking at least 24 hours in advance of walk start time so other walkers may join.
Walk may be canceled, changed, or rescheduled for weather or other reasons. Cancellation decision will be made at least 2 hours in advance. Check this event for last-minute notifications before heading out.
Directions:
From the north: Route 28 South (McArthur Boulevard) turn right on Barlow’s Landing Road. At the traffic light, turn right onto County Road. In 0.7 mi look for Valley Bars Rd on right across from 560 County Road. DO NOT NAVIGATE TO VALLEY BARS ROAD!! There are several discontiguous segments of this road throughout town.
From the south: Route 28 North to Route 151 West. Right on 28A. After entering Bourne, at flashing light with sign towards Pocasset and Cataumet, turn left onto County Road. After traffic light, in 0.7 mi look for Valley Bars Rd on right across from 560 County Road. DO NOT NAVIGATE TO VALLEY BARS ROAD!! There are several discontiguous segments of this road throughout town.
