It’s important to meet in the parking lot at 8:45, because we need to cross the railroad tracks safely before the action starts. At precisely 9:15 AM, the railroad bridge comes down, and a few minutes later, the Cape Cod Flyer blows its loud whistle and comes across. After it has passed, and the bridge ascends, we’ll progress along the canal to the Bourne Bridge, at a slow to moderate pace with stops for water and photographs. 

 Meet at 8:45 AM for introductions and chit-chat in the parking lot. At 8:55 AM, we’ll walk across the railroad tracks to the foot of the railroad bridge. We’ll do some stretching and watch the bridge come down and the train chug across. As soon as the bridge goes back up, we’ll  begin walking. Hosted by Alyson Larrabee, with Sweep TBD 

—Prerequisite: Instructional Clinic

—Distance: 3 miles. No turn-back or shorter option.

—Pace: Slow to moderate, with stops for water and photo ops.

—Terrain: Flat, paved bike path. It’s important to stay to the right and be aware of what’s happening behind us. 

For Your Safety: Consider the weather forecast when booking a walk. WATER MUST BE CARRIED ON ALL WALKS! In consideration of personal and group safety, if you arrive without water, you will not be allowed to walk. Dress for the weather and protect yourself from the elements. Choose appropriate footwear for trail conditions. Use repellent to protect yourself from ticks, which are active year-round.

 —Limit 1 walk per day and 3 bookings per week (Sunday to Saturday) to give others the chance to walk. If you are already holding 3 bookings for the week of this walk, please do not sign up.

—Bring rubber tips.

—Restrooms and water are available. 

—If your plans change, kindly cancel your booking at least 24 hours in advance of walk start time so other walkers may join.

 Walk may be canceled, changed, or rescheduled for weather or other reasons. Cancellation decision will be made at least 2 hours in advance. Check your email (including spam) before driving to the walk. If a walk is canceled, registrants will receive a system-generated email, and the walk will no longer be visible in the event listing or on the calendar.

 Directions: For GPS, type in “Cape Cod Railroad Bridge”. 

 From the Outer Cape, Mid Cape, etc, take Route 6 to exit 55, Route 6A towards Sagamore. In .4 miles, go left onto Ben Abbey Road.

In 800 feet, at the traffic light, go left onto 6A, Sandwich Road. Stay on Sandwich Road for 3.6 miles.

Take a right onto Shore Road. In .6 miles, go right onto Bell Road. In .3 miles park in the parking lot on the left.
