Lots to love about this walk—an outgoing minus tide (read: packed sand 😉), long views from Provincetown to the Canal and South Shore, plus a stretch along the old railroad bed to the Pamet Harbor, with its many layers of history. Come check it out!
Meet at 9:15 am to sign in and stretch. We’ll begin walking promptly at 9:30. Hosted by Sue Moynihan with Sweep TBD. Read to the bottom for directions to our meeting point.
Prerequisite: Instructional clinic and ability to meet the distance and pace
Distance: ~3 miles
Pace: Moderate, 22/23-min miles, with stops every half-mile or so. Fewer stops and longer intervals between stops than beginner walks.
Terrain: Flat, with a combo of sand, hard-pack trail, soft sand over a dune, and stairs onto and off the beach
For Your Safety: Consider the weather forecast when making your RSVP decision. WATER MUST BE CARRIED ON ALL WALKS! In consideration of personal and group safety, if you arrive without water, you will not be allowed to walk. Dress for the weather and choose appropriate footwear for trail conditions. Use repellent to protect yourself from ticks, which are active year round.
- Limit 1 walk per day.
- Wear your CCNW ID badge.
- Sand or mud baskets helpful.
- Open and exposed route. If cold or windy, consider wearing sunglasses, a neck gaiter, and ear protection.
- No water or restroom. Bring tissue in a plastic bag in case of a bio break need.
- Kindly update your RSVP at least 24 hours in advance of walk start time if your plans change. This allows the Host to plan and accommodate other walkers.
Walk may be canceled, changed, or rescheduled for weather or other reasons. Cancellation decision will be made at least 2 hours in advance. **Check your email (including spam) AND this walk listing and comments, below, before driving to the walk.** If a walk is canceled, registrants will receive a system-generated email, and the walk will no longer be visible in the event listing or on the calendar.
Location: Great Hollow Beach on Cape Cod Bay, North Truro
Directions: Route 6 to North Truro and Great Hollow Road. Left off Rt. 6 onto Great Hollow if coming from the mid or Lower Cape. Right off Rt. 6 if coming from North Truro or PTown. Follow Great Hollow to the parking lot at the end.
