Event Type

Being surrounded by the beauty of the Cape feels like we’re living in a postcard! On this early morning walk we’ll slow down to immerse ourselves in the Preserve’s beautiful kaleidoscope of sights and sounds, then pause to sketch or write about a small feature or larger scene, or just sit quietly and contemplate—your choice, personal, and for you only. No writing or art experience needed, and all supplies provided. Please bring your cell phone for taking pictures to sketch or write from. Later, from 5-7 pm, you may wish to attend the Addison Gallery’s (Orleans) opening of “Preserving Our Land and Life,” benefiting Harwich Conservation Trust and featuring paintings of the Preserve.

Meet at 7:45 am to sign in and stretch. We’ll begin walking promptly at 8. Hosted by Sue Moynihan with Sweep TBD. Read to the bottom for directions to the meeting point.

Prerequisite: Instructional clinic and interest in nature observation, journaling or sketching
Distance: ~1.3 miles. No shorter or turn-back option.
Pace: Slow, with several stops, focused on nature observation. 15-20 minutes for reflection, writing, or sketching.
Terrain: Level, hard-packed path
