Safety of our volunteers and members is our highest priority. Summer presents a variety of risks. Carry plenty of water, choose the right walk for your ability, and know your limits when considering heat and humidity.
Heat and Humidity: In combination, these two factors can create a high heat index (“feels like”) temperature in which heat exhaustion and heat stroke could occur. We cancel walks when the heat index is 91 degrees or higher at walk location and time. Know your own vulnerability and do not walk if susceptible to heat illness. https://youtu.be/5hSpMdlXZw0?si=AUhBuPIKRTIyGyWX
Sun: Many routes are in full sun. Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing, including a hat.
