Situated between Great Island and Bound Brook Island, Duck Harbor and the Herring River were once the lifeblood of Wellfleet’s thriving fishing industry. As we walk from Duck Harbor to Ryder Beach we’ll see how the landscape has changed, enjoy expansive views from Provincetown to the Canal, then head inland for a short stretch to check out one of Bound Brook’s most interesting houses. 

Meet at 9:15 for sign-in and stretching to begin walking promptly at 9:30. Hosted by Sue Moynihan with Sweep TBD. Read to the bottom for directions to our meeting point. 

Prerequisite: Instructional Clinic and ability to meet the distance and pace on hard-packed sand
Distance: 3 miles. No shorter or turn-back option.
Pace: Moderate and steady, with several view stops. 24/25-min miles, walking as a group.
Terrain: Hard-packed bayside sand at low tide

For Your Safety: Consider the weather forecast when making your RSVP decision. WATER MUST BE CARRIED ON ALL WALKS! In consideration of personal and group safety, if you arrive without water, you will not be allowed to walk. Dress for the weather and choose appropriate footwear for trail conditions. Use repellent to protect yourself from ticks, which are active year round.

• Limit 1 walk per day.
• Wear your CCNW ID badge.
• Sand or mud baskets helpful
• Carry bug spray. Consider the need for sunglasses, a hat, and sunscreen.
• No restrooms or water available. Bring tissue in a plastic bag in case of a bio break need.
• If your plans change, kindly cancel your booking at least 24 hours in advance of walk start time so other walkers may join.

This walk is authorized under a National Park Service Special Use Permit.

Allow extra travel time for Rt 6 paving in Wellfleet.
