
Perched high above the Atlantic, this area features spectacular views, site of the Cape’s first lighthouse, early tourism, and golfing in the Scottish links tradition.
Meet at 9:15 to sign in and stretch. We’ll begin walking promptly at 9:30. Hosted by Sue Moynihan with Sweep TBD.
Prerequisite: Instructional clinic and ability to walk 3 miles. Aimed at high beginner/low intermediate-level. In late June a longer, faster Intermed/Adv-level walk will be offered here.
Distance: 3 miles. No shorter or turn-back option.
Pace: Moderate on the level, slower on the uphill, with several view & rest stops.
Terrain: Paved bike trail and road edge.
For Your Safety: Consider the weather forecast when booking a walk. WATER MUST BE CARRIED ON ALL WALKS! In consideration of personal and group safety, if you arrive without water, you will not be allowed to walk. Dress for the weather and protect yourself from the elements. Choose appropriate footwear for trail conditions. Use repellent to protect yourself from ticks, which are active year-round.
If you’re ready to add mileage at a slow-to-moderate, steady pace, this one’s for you! Our paved route travels along a quiet bike path and roadway from Head of the Meadow Beach to the Truro Highlands Historic District, including Highland (Cape Cod) Light, Truro Highlands Golf Links, and the Highland House Museum. The museum is hosting a free open house, and we’ll spend some time exploring indoor and outdoor exhibits and enjoying the views. Option to climb Highland Light, $8 adults, $7 seniors.
—Limit 1 walk per day and 3 bookings per week (Sunday to Saturday) to give others the chance to walk. If you are already holding 3 bookings for the week of this walk, please do not sign up.

—Bring rubber tips.
—Restrooms and water are available at the trailhead. Bring tissue in a plastic bag in case of a bio break need.
—If your plans change, kindly cancel your booking at least 24 hours in advance of walk start time so other walkers may join.
This walk is authorized under a National Park Service Special Use Permit.
Walk may be canceled, changed, or rescheduled for weather or other reasons. Cancellation decision will be made at least 2 hours in advance. Check your email (including spam) before driving to the walk. If a walk is canceled, registrants will receive a system-generated email, and the walk will no longer be visible in the event listing or on the calendar.
Directions: Route 6 to North Truro. Turn onto Head of the Meadow Road. At the fork, bear left and proceed into the National Park Service Head of the Meadow Beach parking lot. We are NOT meeting at the town beach.
