Event Type

Once slated for development like its sister park Nickerson, Hawksnest’s plans were never realized. With its peaceful woods, pristine ponds, and miles of unmarked trails, it’s a gem awaiting our discovery. We’ll follow a trail along a high ridge above Hawksnest Pond, then down to the shoreline before we circle Oliver’s Pond.

Meet at 8:15 to sign in and stretch. We’ll begin walking promptly at 8:30. Hosted by Sue Moynihan with Sweep TBD. Read to bottom for directions to our meeting point.

Prerequisite: Instructional clinic and ability to walk the distance at a steady pace over uneven terrain
Distance: ~2.4 miles. No shorter or turn-back option.
Pace: 22/23-min miles, moderate and steady. Fewer stops and longer intervals between stops than beginner walks.
Terrain: Hard pack trail with many short hills, roots, rocks, and some sand
