Celebrate the first full day of summer on this evening walk through globally rare heathlands to a high elevation ocean view.

Meet at 6:15 to sign in and stretch. We’ll begin walking promptly at 6:30. Hosted by Sue Moynihan with Sweep TBD.

Prerequisite: Instructional clinic, ability to walk up to 3 miles over uneven terrain

Distance: 2.7-3 miles. No shorter or turn-back option.

Pace: Moderate. Fewer stops and longer intervals between stops than beginner walks.

Terrain: Pavement and sand roads. Rubber tips needed.

For Your Safety: Consider the weather forecast when booking a walk. WATER MUST BE CARRIED ON ALL WALKS! In consideration of personal and group safety, if you arrive without water, you will not be allowed to walk. Dress for the weather and protect yourself from the elements. Choose appropriate footwear for trail conditions. Use repellent to protect yourself from ticks, which are active year-round.

Celebrate the first full day of summer and bask in late-day lighting as we explore Wellfleet’s Marconi heathlands, including a globally rare and vanishing habitat, coastal bluffs, and a high elevation bay-to-ocean view from one of our nation’s most significant historic sites. Our route includes paved and sand roads. We’ll linger for sunset; bring a snack if you wish. 

• Limit 1 walk per day and 3 bookings per week (Sunday to Saturday) to give others the chance to walk. If you are already holding 3 bookings for the week of this walk, please do not sign up.
• Wear your CCNW ID badge.
• Rubber tips required.
• We won’t be near wetlands, but it’s always a good idea to have bug spray handy.
• Restroom and water are available.
• If your plans change, kindly cancel your booking at least 24 hours in advance of walk start time so other walkers may join.

This walk is authorized under a National Park Service Special Use Permit.

Walk may be canceled, changed, or rescheduled for weather or other reasons. Cancellation decision will be made at least 2 hours in advance. Check your email (including spam) before driving to the walk. If a walk is canceled, registrants will receive a system-generated email, and the walk will no longer be visible in the event listing or on the calendar.

Directions: Meet at the Marconi Station Site, Cape Cod National Seashore, Wellfleet.
