Walk around a dune pond and through one of the few surviving Beech forest areas that were such an integral part of the growth of the Province Lands following the retreat of the glaciers. Then walk the bike trail to the Visitors Center (which is closed for the season).
For Your Safety: Consider the weather forecast when booking a walk. WATER MUST BE CARRIED ON ALL WALKS! In consideration of personal and group safety, if you arrive without water, you will not be allowed to walk. Dress for the weather and protect yourself from the elements. Choose appropriate footwear for trail conditions. Use repellent to protect yourself from ticks, which are active year-round.
- Prerequisite: Instructional clinic and at least two recent 3+ mile CCNW walks at a moderate, steady pace.
- Distance: 3.5-4 miles. No turn-back options.
- Pace: Moderate/steady pace
- Terrain: One mile wooded trails with some boardwalks, slight elevation gains, roots, and a steep set of stairs, before crossing the road to a paved, undulating bike trail.
Meet at 9:45 AM for sign-in and stretching to begin walking promptly at 10:00. Hosted by Ellie Devlin and Sweep TBD.
- Limit 1 walk per day.
- Wear your CCNW ID badge.
- Rubber tips are needed for the bike trail.
- Bring sun protection.
- There are vault toilets at the parking lot but they may not be open. Bring tissue in a plastic bag in the event of a bio break need along the route.
- No water available. Bring water!
Walk may be canceled, changed, or rescheduled for weather or other reasons. **Check your email (including spam) AND this walk listing before driving to the walk. ** If a walk is canceled, registrants will receive a system-generated email, and the walk will no longer be visible in the event listing or on the calendar.
If your plans change, kindly cancel your booking at least 24 hours in advance of walk start time so other walkers may join.
