—Prerequisite: Instructional Clinic and the ability to walk 4.5 miles on varied terrain, including hills
—Distance: ~4.6 miles. No turn-back or shorter option.
—Pace: Moderate and steady, slower on tricky spots
—Terrain: A mix of uneven dirt roads and hard pack, often narrow trails with roots, rocks and pinecones. One section of former paved road where rubber tips will be helpful. A number of hills and inclines.
For Your Safety: Consider the weather forecast when booking a walk. WATER MUST BE CARRIED ON ALL WALKS! In consideration of personal and group safety, if you arrive without water, you will not be allowed to walk. Dress for the weather and protect yourself from the elements. Choose appropriate footwear for trail conditions. Use repellent to protect yourself from ticks, which are active year-round.
—Limit 1 walk per day.
—Wear your CCNW ID badge.
—Carbide tips recommended, rubber tips optional for a section of formerly paved road.
—Restrooms and water are not available. Bring tissue in a plastic bag in case of a bio break need.
—If your plans change, kindly cancel your booking at least 24 hours in advance of walk start time so other walkers may join.
Walk may be canceled, changed, or rescheduled for weather or other reasons. Cancellation decision will be made at least 2 hours in advance. **Check your email (including spam) AND this walk listing before driving to the walk. ** If a walk is canceled, registrants will receive a system-generated email, and the walk will no longer be visible in the event listing or on the calendar.
Directions: Route 6 to Exit 89; turn left from 6A onto Baker’s Pond Road (or turn right if coming from Brewster) and continue approximately .6 miles to the parking lot entrance on the right side of the road. The closest mailbox is 85 Baker’s Pond Road, across the street from the Baker’s Pond parking lot.
