• Note: The Town of Dennis has done a great job clearing the downed trees after the storm. The trails are clear with one exception: a large trunk laying across one area, but low enough to step over.

Come join me for a peaceful Nordic walk through the woods with views of several ponds, highlighted by beautiful Flax pond itself. Please note this is a popular dog-walking area, so we may see some furry friends.

Meet at 8:45 am for sign-in and stretching to begin walking promptly at 9 am. Hosted by Brenda Brown with Sweep TBD.

Prerequisite: Instructional Clinic and ability to walk at least 2 miles over uneven terrain.

• Distance: 2.5 miles. No turn-back or shorter option.
• Pace: Slower to moderate (25 – 30 minute mile).
• Terrain: Small section of firm sand at beginning/end, pine-needle and leaf covered dirt paths, sections of roots and rocks throughout, a couple of minor inclines/declines, step-ups.

For Your Safety: Consider the weather forecast when booking a walk. WATER MUST BE CARRIED ON ALL WALKS! In consideration of personal and group safety, if you arrive without water, you will not be allowed to walk. Dress for the weather and protect yourself from the elements. Choose appropriate footwear for trail conditions. Use repellent to protect yourself from ticks, which are active year-round.

• Limit 1 walk per day.
• Wear your CCNW ID badge.
• Carbide tips are recommended for this walk.
• No restrooms or water available. Bring tissue in a plastic bag in case of a bio break need.
• If your plans change, kindly cancel your booking at least 24 hours in advance of walk start time so other walkers may join.

Walk may be canceled, changed, or rescheduled for weather or other reasons. The Flax Pond Conservation Area is in DENNIS (not Flax Pond Recreation Area in Yarmouth), located on Setucket Road just over the Yarmouth/Dennis line, between Mayfair Rd. and Alexander Dr.

Approaching from the Yarmouth side, the parking lot will be on your left shortly after you pass Mayfair.

Approaching from the Dennis side, after you pass Alexander, look for the yellow road side and the parking will be immediately after it on your right. Please park efficiently, as it is a small lot.
