We’ll check out the Cape’s largest glacial erratic, then meander through the woods and along the marsh to Coast Guard Beach, enjoying long views of the marsh, ocean, and barrier beach. Perfect for recent clinic participants, new walkers, those who have been away for a while, and walkers who prefer a slower pace. 

Meet at 9:15 to sign in and stretch. We’ll begin promptly at 9:30. Hosted by Sue Moynihan and Sweep TBD. Read to the bottom for directions to our meeting point.

Prerequisite: Instructional clinic
Distance: 1.5 miles
Pace: Slow, with periodic rest and view stops
Terrain: Hard-pack trail, roots, some steps, pavement & boardwalk (bring rubber tips)

For Your Safety: Consider the weather forecast when booking a walk. WATER MUST BE CARRIED ON ALL WALKS! In consideration of personal and group safety, if you arrive without water, you will not be allowed to walk. Dress for the weather and protect yourself from the elements. Choose appropriate footwear for trail conditions. Use repellent to protect yourself from ticks, which are active year-round.

• Limit 1 walk per day.
• Wear your CCNW ID badge.
• Rubber tips needed.
• No restrooms or water. Bring tissue in a plastic bag in the event of a bio break need.
• If your plans change, kindly cancel your booking at least 24 hours in advance of walk start time so other walkers may join.

This walk is authorized under a National Park Service Special Use Permit.

Location: Meet at Doane Rock Picnic Area, Doane Road, Eastham

Directions: Route 6 to Eastham. Turn onto Nauset Road. When Nauset forks left, keep right and proceed on Doane Road to Doane Rock Picnic Area, on right, just past Tomahawk Trail. Drive past the first parking lot and proceed to the rear and park near the picnic shelters.
