Start your day and your weekend with fresh sea air and exercise. Join me for a moderately paced walk along the canal and maybe see some winter shore birds, like herons and bufflehead ducks. A couple of weeks ago, we saw an otter. The ospreys might even be back!
Meet at 10:15 AM for sign-in and stretching to begin walking promptly at

—Distance: 2 miles. No turn-back or shorter option.
—Pace: Moderate with stops for water and pictures

For Your Safety: Consider the weather forecast when booking a walk. WATER MUST BE CARRIED ON ALL WALKS! In consideration of personal and group safety, if you arrive without water, you will not be allowed to walk. Dress for the weather and protect yourself from the elements. Choose appropriate footwear for trail conditions. Use repellent to protect yourself from ticks, which are active year-round.
We’ll start in the parking lot near the bathrooms (which are closed for the season), and walk to the 1 mile marker and back.
—Limit 1 walk per day.
—Wear your CCNW ID badge.
— Bundle up. It’s cold near the water, and rubber tips on your poles are advised.
—Restrooms are not available during the off-season. You’re required to carry your own water on all walks.
—If your plans change, kindly cancel your booking at least 24 hours in advance of walk start time so other walkers may join.
Wear blaze orange for visibility and safety during hunting season.
Walk may be canceled, changed, or rescheduled for weather or other reasons. Cancellation
decision will be made at least 2 hours in advance. Check your email (including spam) before driving to the walk. If a walk is canceled, registrants will receive a system-generated email and the walk will no longer be visible in the event listing or on the calendar.
Location: Meet at the end of Freezer Road, Sandwich. Look for me near the restroom building(closed for the season).
Directions: Route 6A to Tupper Road, Sandwich, from Tupper, take Freezer Road to the end. Look for Shipwreck Ice Cream on the corner of Tupper and Freezer. At the end of Freezer Road, you’ll see Fisherman’s View on the right, and the canal parking lots on the left. Also, there’s a huge yellow crane behind Fisherman’s View Restaurant.
