It’s not a marathon; it’s a Nordic sprint! Our paved route takes in Ruth and Cliff Ponds and is perfect for maintaining Nordic technique and building stamina as we push through many hills at a brisk pace. Water stops will be brief to remain hydrated and keep heart rates up. Intervals opportunity for those who wish.
Meet at 8:30 am to sign in and stretch. We’ll begin walking promptly at 8:45. Hosted by Sue Moynihan with Sweep TBD. Read to the bottom for directions to meeting point.
Prerequisite: Instructional clinic, intermediate-level walks, and ability to meet the planned pace and distance
Distance: 3 miles. No shorter or turn-back option.
Pace: Fast, 17/18-minute miles, with 3 brief water stops over the 3-mile distance
Terrain: Paved and hilly. Rubber tips required.
For Your Safety: Consider the weather forecast when booking a walk. WATER MUST BE CARRIED ON ALL WALKS! In consideration of personal and group safety, if you arrive without water, you will not be allowed to walk. Dress for the weather and protect yourself from the elements. Choose appropriate footwear for trail conditions. Use repellent to protect yourself from ticks, which are active year-round. Wear blaze orange for visibility and safety during hunting season.

- No water or restrooms. Bring tissue in a plastic bag for a bio break.
- If your plans change, kindly cancel your booking at least 24 hours in advance of walk start time so other walkers may join.
Walk may be canceled, changed, or rescheduled for weather or other reasons. Cancellation decision will be made at least 2 hours in advance. **Check your email (including spam) AND this walk listing and comments, below, before driving to the walk. ** If a walk is canceled, registrants will receive a system-generated email, and the walk will no longer be visible in the event listing or on the calendar.
Directions: Route 6A to Nickerson State Park in Brewster. Enter the park, proceed past the office and pay station, and travel 2.4 miles on the main (Deer Park) road which becomes Nook Road. Turn left at the Fisherman’s Landing/Cliff Pond sign. We are NOT meeting at the Flax Pond Road side of Cliff Pond.
