Join Our 6-Week Nordic Walking Series: Build Endurance and Stamina!

We are thrilled to announce that this series has been approved by the board as a special event! Join us for an empowering 6-week Nordic walking series designed to gradually build your endurance and stamina. By the end of the six weeks if you complete the whole series, you will be prepared to tackle a 6-hour walk! Whether you’re training for the Camino, a marathon, or simply looking to enhance your walking experience, this series is perfect for you.

What to Expect: Each week I will post the next walk. Day of week, walk distance/duration, terrain types, and locations will vary. Week 1 lays the foundation and in weeks 2-6 we will gradually increase walking time.
Schedule:
– Week 1: 3-hour walk along the scenic rail trail to lay the foundation for your endurance
– Week 2: 3.5 hours
–

-Week 3: 2 hours hill training

– Week 4: 4 hours
– Week 5: 4 1/2 hours
– Week 6: Reach your goal with a 6-hour walk!

Terrain Diversity:
Experience a mix of terrains throughout the series, designed to simulate various walking conditions. This includes:
– Flat Rail Trails: Smooth paths to focus on pace and technique.
– Hilly Trails: Gradual inclines to build strength and stamina.
– Rugged Terrain: Challenging surfaces to enhance balance and agility.
- Some in-town walking to mimic Camino walking terrain

Requirements:
– Physical Ability: Participants should be able to comfortably walk for the duration specified for each week at a 25-minute mile or less
– Gear: Always wear a backpack to carry snacks, water, etc. You can add weight to it weekly to simulate carrying belongings for long hikes, especially if training for the Camino or Appalachian Trail.
- Snacks: Bring an easy-to-carry snack to keep your energy up. Trail mix, dried fruit, nuts, and trail bars/balls are good choices.
–Visibility: Please plan to wear blaze orange for safety during hunting season.
-Water: 2 liters recommended.
-Bring rubber tips to protect your walking poles and improve traction.
