Challenge yourself to traverse 10 miles of wooded trails.  Explore Baker’s, Little Cliff, Big Cliff, Flax, Higgins and Eel Ponds on mostly wooded trails, both hilly and flat, and ascend the biggest hill on the mid-Cape (I’m guessing) to the old wooden water tower.  Time is approximate.

— Meet at 8:45 for sign-in and stretching to begin walking promptly at 9:00. Hosted by Barbie Liftman with Sweep TBD.

—Prerequisite: Instructional Clinic advanced walk of 7+ miles.

—Distance: 10 miles. No turn-back or shorter option.

—Pace: Moderate (2.5 miles/hour).

—Terrain: Mostly wooded, some sandy beach, dirt roads, a little bit of paved road, hills, roots, rocks…pretty much everything.

For Your Safety: Consider the weather forecast when booking a walk. WATER MUST BE CARRIED ON ALL WALKS! In consideration of personal and group safety, if you arrive without water, you will not be allowed to walk. Dress for the weather and protect yourself from the elements. Choose appropriate footwear for trail conditions. Use repellent to protect yourself from ticks, which are active year-round.

—Limit 1 walk per day and 3 bookings per week (Sunday to Saturday) to give others the chance to walk. If you are already holding 3 bookings for the week of this walk, please do not sign up.

—Wear your CCNW ID badge.

— Bring plenty of water and a few small snacks or a sandwich.

—Restrooms and water are available sporadically. Bring tissue in a plastic bag in case of a bio break need.

—If your plans change, kindly cancel your booking at least 24 hours in advance of walk start time so other walkers may join.

Walk may be canceled, changed, or rescheduled for weather or other reasons. Cancellation decision will be made at least 2 hours in advance. Check your email (including spam) before driving to the walk. If a walk is canceled, registrants will receive a system-generated email and the walk will no longer be visible in the event listing or on the calendar.

Directions:  Route 6A to Baker’s Pond Road, Orleans (just over the Brewster line).  Baker’s Pond Conservation Area parking is less than a mile down on the right side.  Parking is free.
