The Mashpee River Woodlands offers views of the river, woodlands, and nesting ospreys. We saw 5 active osprey nests yesterday.

Meet at 9:45 am for stretching and introductions to begin walking promptly at 10 am. Hosted by Eileen O’Connell with Sweep TBD.

  • Prerequisite: Instructional Clinic plus prior walks of at least 3 miles.
  • Distance: @ 4 miles
  • Pace: Moderate
  • Terrain: trail has been cleared since the storm in March but there is debris on the trails including pine needles, pine cones and some sticks.
  • For Your Safety: Consider the weather forecast when booking a walk. WATER MUST BE CARRIED ON ALL WALKS. In consideration of personal and group safety, if you arrive without water, you will NOT be allowed to walk. Dress for the weather and protect yourself from the elements. Choose appropriate footwear for trail conditions. Use repellent to protect yourself from ticks, which are active year round.
  • Limit 1 walk per day.
  • Wear your CCNW ID badge.
  • No restrooms or water. Bring tissue in a plastic bag in case of a bio break need.
  • If our plans change, kindly cancel your booking at least 24 hours in advance of walk start time so other walkers may join.

Walk may be canceled, changed or rescheduled for weather or other reasons. Cancellation decision will be made at least 2 hours in advance. Check your email (including spam) before driving to the walk. If a walk is canceled, registrants will receive a system-generated email and the walk will no longer be visible in the event listing or on the calendar.

Directions: From the Mashpee rotary go south on Rt 28. Take your first right onto Quinaquisset Ave. It will be the first right, after the electric poles. There is a sign – Mashpee River Woodlands.

If you are coming north on MA-28 you cannot make a left onto Quinaquisset Ave. Take a left at the light onto Orchard Rd (Mashpee) and then your first right onto Quinaquisset Ave. The entrance is after the Sprout Farm Stand in Mashpee, on your left.
