We will explore beautiful Bell’s Neck including West Reservoir and the Herring River.
Meet at 9:45 for sign-in and stretching to begin walk promptly at 10:00 Hosted by: Nancy Strianese with sweep TBD.
Prerequisite: Instructional clinic and comfortable walking on at least 2 miles of varied terrain.
Distance: 2.25 miles. No turn-back or shorter option.
Pace: Slower on hills- moderate on flat areas
Terrain: A combination of well-worn paths (with roots, rocks, hills), some hard pack roads and asphalt.
For Your Safety: Consider the weather forecast when booking a walk. WATER MUST BE CARRIED ON ALL WALKS! In consideration of personal and group safety, if you arrive without water, you will not be allowed to walk. Dress for the weather and protect yourself from the elements. Choose appropriate footwear for trail conditions. Use repellent to protect yourself from ticks, which are active year-round.
This walk will take us along the West Reservoir in beautiful Bell’s Neck Conservation Lands. We will follow wooded trails, have some great water views, and views of the Herring River from different locations. You might even want to bring your binoculars to watch the swans, and osprey.
- Limit 1 walk per day.

- Restrooms and water are not available. Bring tissue in a plastic bag for a bio break.
- If your plans change, kindly cancel your booking at least 24 hours in advance of walk start time so other walkers may join.
Walk may be canceled, changed, or rescheduled for weather or other reasons. Cancellation decision will be made at least 2 hours in advance. Check your email (including spam) before driving to the walk. If a walk is canceled, registrants will receive a system-generated email and the walk will no longer be visible in the event listing or on the calendar.
Directions: From Great Western Road, take Bell’s Neck Road (dirt) south. Drive 0.25 mile and on the left will be a small trailhead kiosk and parking area. Parking is allowed along the sides of the road as well. Meet at the East Trailhead Parking Area next to the trail kiosk.
DO NOT PARK IN LOT OFF DEPOT STREET. WE ARE NOT MEETING THERE.
