Walk along the canal bike path, through Bourne Conservation Trust trails, and past the buildings of the Aptucxet Museums.

Note the wooded trails are passable, but with many branch cuttings along the trails and some on the trails.  There are a few low branches to walk under, and a few small trees across trails to step over.  No limbo required, but be aware of the hazards.  The wooded section of the trail is approx 0.5 miles and we will take our time through the trails before returning to the bike path.

• Prerequisite: Instructional Clinic, and comfort with above trail conditions
• Distance: 2.6 miles. After exiting the museum trails we will continue to the Bourne bridge, then return along the path to the railroad bridge.  Since this is mostly an out and back path, there are turnaround possibilities if necessary.
• Pace: Relaxed through the trails to the museum with opportunities to see the various buildings.  Some “on your own pace” sections along the bike trail.
• Terrain: Mostly paved bike path but short section through wooded trails and museum grounds.  Rubber tips required for paved paths, carbide tipes helpful in the woods.

For Your Safety: Consider the weather forecast when booking a walk. WATER MUST BE CARRIED ON ALL WALKS! In consideration of personal and group safety, if you arrive without water, you will not be allowed to walk. Dress for the weather and protect yourself from the elements. Choose appropriate footwear for trail conditions. Use repellent to protect yourself from ticks, which are active year-round.  ***Wear blaze orange for visibility and safety during hunting season.***

• Limit 1 walk per day
• Wear your CCNW ID badge
• Rubber tips required for bike path
• Porta potty available at the parking lot as well as at the Bourne Bridge lot. Water not available. Bring tissue in a plastic bag in case of a bio break need.
• If your plans change, kindly cancel your booking at least 24 hours in advance of walk start time so other walkers may join.

Walk may be canceled, changed, or rescheduled for weather or other reasons. Cancellation decision will be made at least 2 hours in advance. Check your email (including spam) before driving to the walk. If a walk is canceled, registrants will receive a system-generated email, and the walk will no longer be visible in the event listing or on the calendar.

Directions: Parking lot at the end of Bell Road in Bourne, off Shore Road.  When reaching the end of Bell Road, turn left and continue to the end of the lot.  Note lot is near the railroad bridge on the cape side, not by either the Bourne nor Sagamore bridge.

From the base of the Bourne Bridge ON CAPE. Take the first right at the State Police barracks onto Trowbridge Road which becomes Shore Road. Approx 1.5 miles take a right onto Bell Road.
