Let’s shake off winter and celebrate spring’s arrival! Our route features high elevation Atlantic views and the mysterious Atlantic White Cedar Swamp, where we may spy a leprechaun or a wood fairy this close to St. Patrick’s Day. Afterward, we’ll pot frost-tolerant pansies and violas for you to take home. Bring a 4-6 inch pot. Flowers and soil will be provided. Open to all levels if the moderate pace and terrain suit you.

Meet at 9:45 am for sign-in and stretching to begin walking promptly at 10. Hosted by Sue Moynihan with Sweep TBD.

Prerequisite: Instructional clinic and ability to walk at a moderate pace including over steps, steep sections, and a long but gradual uphill stretch
Distance: 1.5-2 miles. No shorter or turn-back option.
Pace: Moderate, with occasional water stops. Fewer stops and longer intervals between stops than beginner walks.
Terrain: Hard-pack trail, pavement, boardwalk. Carbide tips recommended for hard pack trail that includes roots, rocks, and hills. Rubber tips needed for the boardwalk through the swamp.

For Your Safety: Consider the weather forecast when booking a walk. WATER MUST BE CARRIED ON ALL WALKS! In consideration of personal and group safety, if you arrive without water, you will not be allowed to walk. Dress for the weather and protect yourself from the elements. Choose appropriate footwear for trail conditions. Use repellent to protect yourself from ticks, which are active year-round.

• Bring your own small (4-6 inch) pot for planting.
• Rubber tips needed for boardwalk segments
• No restrooms or water. Bring tissue in a plastic bag in the event of a bio break need.
• If your plans change, kindly cancel your booking at least 24 hours in advance of walk start time so other walkers may join.

Walk may be canceled, changed, or rescheduled for weather (steady snow/rain, ice, windchill 19 degrees or lower) or other reasons. Cancellation decision will be made at least 2 hours in advance. **Check your email (including spam) AND this walk listing before driving to the walk.** If a walk is canceled, registrants will receive a system-generated email, and the walk will no longer be visible in the event listing or on the calendar.

This walk is authorized under a National Park Service Special Use Permit.

Directions: Route 6 to South Wellfleet. Turn onto Marconi Beach Road, Bear left at the fork and follow the road to the Marconi Station Site at the end.
