Enjoy a unique walk through the rare, picturesque Marconi heathlands with its beautiful  views of the Atlantic coastline.

Meet at 8:45 to sign in and stretch. We’ll begin walking promptly at 9:00. Hosted by Ellie Devlin with Sweep TBD.

Prerequisite: Instructional clinic, ability to walk up to 3 miles over uneven terrain

Distance: 2.8 miles with the option of White Cedar Swamp for a total of 4 miles.

Pace: Moderate & steady throughout. Fewer stops and longer intervals between stops than beginner walks.

Terrain: Pavement and sand roads/trails and boardwalk. Rubber tips needed.

For Your Safety: Consider the weather forecast when booking a walk. WATER MUST BE CARRIED ON ALL WALKS! In consideration of personal and group safety, if you arrive without water, you will not be allowed to walk. Dress for the weather and protect yourself from the elements. Choose appropriate footwear for trail conditions. Use repellent to protect yourself from ticks, which are active year-round.

Explore the Marconi vanishing heathland habitat with its broom crowberry, bearberry & bayberry that thrive in these coastal bluffs. This high elevation above the clay cliffs offers spectacular views of the Atlantic coastline.                                         

Optional picturesque walk through the shady, moss-covered, magical Atlantic White Cedar Swamp will complete your Wellfleet adventure.           

• Limit 1 walk per day and 3 bookings per week (Sunday to Saturday) to give others the chance to walk. If you are already holding 3 bookings for the week of this walk, please do not sign up.
• Wear your CCNW ID badge.
• Rubber tips required.
• Restrooms are closed for the season.
• If your plans change, kindly cancel your booking at least 24 hours in advance of walk start time so other walkers may join.

This walk is authorized under a National Park Service Special Use Permit.

Walk may be canceled, changed, or rescheduled for weather or other reasons. Cancellation decision will be made at least 2 hours in advance. Check your email (including spam) before driving to the walk. If a walk is canceled, registrants will receive a system-generated email, and the walk will no longer be visible in the event listing or on the calendar.

Directions: Meet at the Marconi Station Site, Cape Cod National Seashore, Wellfleet. Take Rt. 6 to South Wellfleet. Turn onto Marconi Station Road. Bear left at the fork and follow signs to the Marconi Station Site. We are NOT meeting at Marconi Beach.
