It’s a great time of the year to Nordic walk at Sandy Neck! This walk is over a variety of challenging terrain, with up close views of a salt marsh, endless sand dunes and beautiful views of the Cape Cod Bay. 🌊

Meet at 8:15 AM for sign-in and stretching to begin walking at 8:30 AM (walk is tide dependent). Hosted by Debbie Zinck and Sweep TBD.

Prerequisite: Instructional clinic and at least two (fairly recent) CCNW 3-4 mile walks, at a steady faster pace, over varied terrain, with fewer breaks.

Distance: 4+ miles. No turn-back option.

Pace: Moderate to Fast as terrain allows, with fewer stops (22-24 minute mile).

Terrain: Short section of paved path leading to the trail head. On the marsh side: a LOT of soft sand, uneven gravel/rocks, with a long soft sand stretch to/over a high soft sand dune, which leads to the beach. On the beach side: primarily firm(ish) sand with multiple areas of assorted size rocks.

Other: Unless there is cloud cover, this walk is in full sun.

For Your Safety: Consider the weather forecast when booking a walk. WATER MUST BE CARRIED ON ALL WALKS! In consideration of personal and group safety, if you arrive without water, you will not be allowed to walk. Dress for the weather and protect yourself from the elements. Choose appropriate footwear for trail conditions. Use repellent to protect yourself from ticks, which are active year-round. Wear blaze orange for visibility and safety during hunting season.

• Rubber tips and sand baskets if you use them
• Unknown if facilities are available, bring a tissue in a plastic bag for a bio-break.
• Water fountains are shut off for the season.

Walk may be canceled, changed, or rescheduled for weather or other reasons. Cancellation decision will be made at least 2 hours in advance. **Check your email (including spam) AND this event listing before driving to the walk.** If a walk is canceled, registrants will receive a system-generated email, and the walk will no longer be visible in the event listing or on the calendar.

If your plans change, kindly cancel your booking at least 24 hours in advance of walk start time so other walkers may join.

Directions: Please use 425 Sandy Neck Road in Sandwich as the address for your GPS. Once you turn onto Sandy Neck Road, continue to the end and park in the upper parking lot, near the restrooms.
