For Your Safety: Consider the weather forecast when making your RSVP decision. WATER MUST BE CARRIED ON ALL WALKS! In consideration of personal and group safety, if you arrive without water, you will not be allowed to walk. Dress for the weather and choose appropriate footwear for trail conditions. Use repellent to protect yourself from ticks, which are active year-round.

Wear blaze orange for visibility and safety during hunting season.

Meet at 9:45 am for sign-in and stretching to begin walking promptly at 10:00 am. Hosted by Norma Ganderson with Sweep TBA.

—Prerequisite: Instructional Clinic and ability to walk at least 2.5 miles over varied terrain at a moderate pace.

—Distance: 2.0 miles. No shorter or turn-back option

—Pace: Slow with a few water breaks

—Terrain: Everything from hard-pack gravel, dirt paths through woodlands with roots, grassy meadows. Mostly flat, some rolling hills, a couple minor inclines, and a few short boardwalks. Rubber tips optional.

We will start out from the Nature Center bldg, make our way over to the Sandy Neck lookout point, loop the all persons trail around Night Heron Pond, venture thru the wooded Holly trail, cross over to the meadows, then back over to visit the pollinator garden.

—Limit 1 walk per day and 3 RSVPs per week (Sunday to Saturday) to give others the chance to walk. If you are already holding 3 RSVPs for the week of this walk, please do not sign up.

—Wear your CCNW ID badge.

—Porta-potty & water are available.

—Kindly update your RSVP at least 24 hours in advance of walk start time if your plans change. This allows the Host to plan and accommodate other walkers.

Mass Audubon Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary charges a fee of $5 for adults, $4 for seniors (65+), and members are free. Exact change please. There are often special discounts offered for new members (not renewals) of $35 for an annual family membership that you can sign up for and get more information about online.
