
Last walk here until at least August. Long views of dunes and bay and rich maritime stories make this a memorable walk.
Meet at 9:15 am to sign in and stretch. We’ll begin walking promptly at 9:30. Route is tide dependent. Hosted by Sue Moynihan with Sweep TBD.
Prerequisites: Instructional clinic and prior intermediate or advanced CCNW walks of 3+ miles, including some sand
Distance: 3.5 miles. No turn-back or shorter option.
Pace: Moderate to brisk on hard pack, slower on the sand
Terrain: 1.5 miles on sand, 2 miles on hard pack. Full sun exposure. Shoes will get wet as we cross the marsh.
For Your Safety: Consider the weather forecast when booking a walk. WATER MUST BE CARRIED ON ALL WALKS! In consideration of personal and group safety, if you arrive without water, you will not be allowed to walk. Dress for the weather and protect yourself from the elements. Choose appropriate footwear for trail conditions. Use repellent to protect yourself from ticks, which are active year-round.
On this invigorating walk we’ll trek across the Hatches Harbor dike and through the marsh to Race Point Light and the Bay, with stunning views and many stories to explore along the way. Timed for low tide. Shoes will get wet.
- Limit 1 walk per day and 3 bookings per week (Sunday to Saturday) to give others the chance to walk. If you are already holding 3 bookings for the week of this walk, please do not sign up.
- Wear your CCNW ID badge.
- Sand baskets helpful
- Full sun. Suggest hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, and bug spray.
- Restrooms and water are not available. Bring tissue in a plastic bag in case of a bio break need.
- If your plans change, kindly cancel your booking at least 24 hours in advance of walk start time so other walkers may join.
This walk is authorized under a National Park Service Special Use Permit.
Walk may be canceled, changed, or rescheduled for weather or other reasons. Cancellation decision will be made at least 2 hours in advance. Check your email (including spam) before driving to the walk. If a walk is canceled, registrants will receive a system-generated email, and the walk will no longer be visible in the event listing or on the calendar.
Directions: Meet at Hatches Harbor Trailhead, located on Province Lands Road, Provincetown. We will need 4 cars to park along the road to save room for others. 42.06177° N, 70.21750° W
Rt. 6 to Race Point Road, Provincetown. Turn right onto Race Point Road and proceed past Beech Forest and Province Lands Visitor Center. Take the first left past the visitor center onto Province Lands Road. Proceed about 1 mile to trailhead on the right.
