Enjoy a peaceful morning along the Wellfleet flats at minus tide, with sweeping views from the harbor to the Canal, including Great Island, Jeremy Point, Billingsgate Shoals, and Lieutenant Island. We may see oyster farmers at work, and there’s always something interesting to find along the wrack line. On the return we’ll loop through a quiet seasonal neighborhood. Tuck this one in early and have the rest of your day ahead.
Meet at 7:45 am to sign in and stretch. We’ll begin walking promptly at 8. Hosted by Sue Moynihan with Sweep TBD. Read to the bottom for directions to our meeting point.
Prerequisite: Instructional clinic and ability to meet the distance and pace on sand
Distance: ~3 miles
Pace: Moderate and steady, with stops every half-mile or so. Slower pace through occasional soft sand stretches. Fewer stops and longer intervals between stops than beginner walks.
Terrain: Combination of packed sand, some sections of soft sand, pavement, and hard pack gravel. Shoes may get wet along the tide line.
For Your Safety: Consider the weather forecast when booking a walk. WATER MUST BE CARRIED ON ALL WALKS! In consideration of personal and group safety, if you arrive without water, you will not be allowed to walk. Dress for the weather and protect yourself from the elements. Choose appropriate footwear for trail conditions. Use repellent to protect yourself from ticks, which are active year-round.

- No water or restroom. Bring tissue in a plastic bag in case of a bio break need.

Location: Meet at Indian Neck Beach, Wellfleet, at the end of Nauset Road. DO NOT PUT INDIAN NECK INTO GPS, as it may take you to Wellfleet Harbor. Follow turn-by-turn directions, below.
Directions from the Lower Cape (Wellfleet and points west): Route 6 to Wellfleet. Turn left onto Pilgrim Spring Road, Wellfleet, one mile past Chez Chloe Restaurant (on right) and near Brownie’s Cabins/fire lookout tower (on left). Look for Indian Neck Heights sign. Remain on Pilgrim Spring Road to the “Y” and bear left onto Indian Neck Road. Indian Neck becomes Nauset Road. Follow to the end.
Directions from Truro/Provincetown: Route 6 to Wellfleet. Turn right onto Pilgrim Spring Road, Wellfleet, near Brownie’s Cabins/fire lookout tower (on right). Look for Indian Neck Heights sign. Remain on Pilgrim Spring Road to the “Y” and bear left onto Indian Neck Road. Indian Neck becomes Nauset Road. Follow to the end.
