Enjoy an invigorating, moderate-paced walk through Pilgrim Heights and along a section of the Head of the Meadow bike trail to the road that leads up to High Head where we’ll have a panoramic view of East Harbor and the rolling dunes of the outer Cape. Before returning to our cars, we’ll walk a sandy trail and climb a dune to the beautiful, secluded High Head Beach.
Meet at 8:45 for sign-in and stretching to begin walking promptly at 9:00. Hosted by Ellie Devlin with Sweep TBD.
—Prerequisite: Instructional Clinic, prior CCNWC events of 4 miles and an ability to walk a 1/2 mile in sand.
—Distance: ~4.1 miles. No turn-back or shorter option.
—Pace: moderate in the wooded areas and up High Head, slower in sand
—Terrain: 1.1 mile on wooded trails with elevation gain, roots and steps, 2+ miles on asphalt/pavement, and ~1 mile in sand
For Your Safety: Consider the weather forecast when booking a walk. WATER MUST BE CARRIED ON ALL WALKS! In consideration of personal and group safety, if you arrive without water, you will not be allowed to walk. Dress for the weather and protect yourself from the elements. Choose appropriate footwear for trail conditions. Use repellent to protect yourself from ticks, which are active year-round.

—Limit 1 walk per day and 3 bookings per week (Sunday to Saturday) to give others the chance to walk. If you are already holding 3 bookings for the week of this walk, please do not sign up.
—Wear your CCNW ID badge.
—Rubber tips, a snack, water, and comfortable shoes/sneakers.
—Rest rooms are available. Bring tissue in a plastic bag in case of a bio break need.
—If your plans change, kindly cancel your booking at least 24 hours in advance of walk start time so other walkers may join.
This walk is authorized under a National Park Service Special Use Permit.
Walk may be canceled, changed, or rescheduled for weather or other reasons. Cancellation decision will be made at least 2 hours in advance. **Check your email (including spam) before driving to the walk.If a walk is canceled, registrants will receive a system-generated email and the walk will no longer be visible in the event listing or on the calendar.
Directions: Pilgrim Heights: Take Route 6 to North Truro to the Pilgrim Heights exit that is one mile past Head of the Meadow Rd. Meet at the wooden shelter in the Pilgrim Heights Picnic area.
