DESCRIPTION:Coast Guard Beach has been acclaimed by “Dr. Beach” as bein
 g one of the nation’s 10 best – check it out with us on this low tide 
 walk! We’ll take the Doane trail over the marsh\, then follow the beach 
 south until we reach the Nauset Inlet where we will admire the views and s
 ee if the seals have returned.\nMeet at 8:45 AM to sign-in and stretch. We
 ’ll begin walking promptly at 9:00 AM. Hosted by Dorrie Scipione Ross wi
 th Sweep TBD. Please read to the bottom for directions to our meeting poin
 t.\n—Prerequisite: Instructional Clinic and the ability to walk 3 miles\
 , including 2 miles on sand\n—Distance: ~3.2 miles. No turn-back or shor
 ter option\n—Pace: Moderate and steady with breaks for water and to enjo
 y the views\n—Terrain: short section of hard pack trail with rocks\, roo
 ts and pinecones\, pavement\, bridge crossing\, and ~2 miles of mostly pac
 ked sand on the beach\nFor Your Safety: Consider the weather forecast when
  booking a walk. WATER MUST BE CARRIED ON ALL WALKS! In consideration of p
 ersonal and group safety\, if you arrive without water\, you will not be a
 llowed to walk. Dress for the weather and protect yourself from the elemen
 ts. Choose appropriate footwear for trail conditions. Use repellent to pro
 tect yourself from ticks\, which are active year-round.\n—Limit 1 walk p
 er day.\n—Wear your CCNW ID badge.\n— Rubber tips suggested\, sand bas
 kets optional for beach portion\n—Restrooms and water are not available.
  The restrooms at the Salt Pond Visitor’s Center are open if you want to
  make a stop before continuing down to the Doane Area. Bring tissue in a p
 lastic bag in case of a bio break need.\n—If your plans change\, kindly 
 cancel your booking at least 24 hours in advance of walk start time so oth
 er walkers may join.\n\nThis walk is authorized under a National Park Serv
 ice Special Use Permit.\n\nWalk may be canceled\, changed\, or rescheduled
  for weather or other reasons. Cancellation decision will be made at least
  2 hours in advance. **Check your email (including spam) AND this walk lis
 ting before driving to the walk. ** If a walk is canceled\, registrants w
 ill receive a system-generated email\, and the walk will no longer be visi
 ble in the event listing or on the calendar.\n\nDirections: Route 6 to Eas
 tham. Turn onto Nauset Road and proceed to the Doane Rock Picnic Area\, on
  right\, just past Tomahawk Trail. We will meet at the rear of the picnic 
 area near the picnic shelters (not at the parking area by Doane Rock).
