DESCRIPTION:How about a nice and early 8+ mile walk to kick off Memorial Da
 y Weekend while preemptively burning off those hot dogs and hamburgers! If
  you like views of big sand dunes\, an ever changing shoreline\, the possi
 bly of finding sea treasures\, while getting in a great workout\, this wal
 k is for you!\nHOLIDAY TRAFFIC CONSIDERATION Hopefully the early start ti
 me will mean no traffic issues\, and depending on which direction you're c
 oming from\, going home will mean heading opposite the traffic. However\, 
 it is the "unofficial start of Summer\," so please take traffic into consi
 deration when making your decision to sign up for this walk.\nFor Your Saf
 ety: Consider the weather forecast when booking a walk. WATER MUST BE CARR
 IED ON ALL WALKS! In consideration of personal and group safety\, if you a
 rrive without water\, you will not be allowed to walk. Dress for the weath
 er and protect yourself from the elements. Choose appropriate footwear for
  trail conditions. Use repellent to protect yourself from ticks\, which ar
 e active year-round.\n\n\n 	Prerequisite: Instructional clinic and at leas
 t  two recent 5+ mile CCNW walks at a faster pace. Ability to walk a long
  distance on areas of both hard and soft sand\, small uneven rocks.\n 	Dis
 tance: 8+ miles. No turn-back option.\n 	Pace: Moderate to fast\, 20-23 mi
 nute mile.\n 	Terrain: At beginning/end multiple uneven wooden steps/stair
 s\, flat sea grass\, uneven rocks\, soft sand dune crossing\, long stretch
 es of soft and hard sand.\n\nThis walk starts at the area in Wellfleet Har
 bor known as "The Gut\," to Cape Cod Bay\, then all the way via the beach 
 to Jeremy Point\, heading back the same route.\n\nMeet at 8:15 AM for sign
 -in and light stretching to begin walking promptly at 8:30 AM (this walk i
 s tide dependent). Hosted by Debbie Zinck and Sweep TBD.\n\n 	Limit 1 walk
  per day.\n 	Wear your CCNW ID badge.\n 	Rubber tips are recommended. Sand
  baskets optional.\n 	Bring bug spray.\n 	Bring sun protection. Unless the
 re is cloud cover\, this walk is in full sun!\n 	There are two Porta-Potti
 es at the parking lot. Bring tissue in a plastic bag in the event of a bio
  break need along the route.\n 	No water source available. Bring plenty of
  water!\n\nWalk may be canceled\, changed\, or rescheduled for weather or 
 other reasons. Given the early start time of this walk\, a cancellation de
 cision will be made by 8:00 pm the day before. **Always check your email (
 including spam) AND this event listing before driving to the walk.** If a 
 walk is canceled\, registrants will receive a system-generated email\, and
  the walk will no longer be visible as an event listing or on the calendar
 .\nIf your plans change\, kindly cancel your booking at least 24 hours in 
 advance of walk start time so other walkers may join.\n***This walk is aut
 horized under a National Park Service Special Use Permit.***\nDirections:\
 n1440 Chequessett Neck Rd\, Wellfleet. The Great Island sign and parking l
 ot sneaks up on your left. If you reach the end of the road\, you've gone 
 too far. Please allow extra time for road construction in Wellfleet\, whic
 h generally starts at 7:00 AM.
