DESCRIPTION:Perched high above the Atlantic\, the Truro Highlands Historic 
 District features outstanding views and rich history associated with Highl
 and (Cape Cod) Light\, early tourism\, and golfing in the Scottish links t
 radition. The Highland House Museum is hosting its annual free open house\
 , this year showcasing a new America 250 exhibit\, “Hard Choices on a Pe
 rilous Coast: Truro’s Story of the American Revolution.” We’ll have 
 free time in the district to visit the museum\, climb Highland Light if yo
 u wish ($8 adults\, $7 seniors)\, shop in the lighthouse gift store\, or j
 ust enjoy the view. All levels welcome if the distance\, slow/moderate pac
 e\, and terrain suit you. \nMeet at 9:15 to sign in and stretch. We’ll 
 begin walking promptly at 9:30. Hosted by Sue Moynihan with Sweep TBD. Rea
 d to the bottom for directions to our meeting point. \nPrerequisite: Inst
 ructional clinic and ability to walk 3 miles.\n\nDistance: 3 miles. No sho
 rter or turn-back option.\n\nPace: Moderate on the level\, slower on the u
 phill\, with view &amp\; rest stops. \nTerrain: Paved bike trail and road
  edge\; long but gradual uphill along the 1.5-mile route to the historic d
 istrict. Bring rubber tips!\nFor Your Safety: Consider the weather foreca
 st when booking a walk. WATER MUST BE CARRIED ON ALL WALKS! In considerati
 on of personal and group safety\, if you arrive without water\, you will n
 ot be allowed to walk. Dress for the weather and protect yourself from the
  elements. Choose appropriate footwear for trail conditions. Use repellent
  to protect yourself from ticks\, which are active year-round.\n\n\n 	Limi
 t 1 walk per day\n 	Wear your CCNW ID badge.\n 	Rubber tips required.\n 	C
 arry bug spray. Consider the need for a hat and sunscreen.\n 	Restrooms an
 d water are available at the trailhead. Bring tissue in a plastic bag in c
 ase of a bio break need.\n 	If your plans change\, kindly cancel your book
 ing at least 24 hours in advance of walk start time so other walkers may j
 oin.\n\nThis walk is authorized under a National Park Service Special Use 
 Permit.\nWalk may be canceled\, changed\, or rescheduled for weather or ot
 her reasons. Cancellation decision will be made at least 2 hours in advanc
