DESCRIPTION:Once known simply as “The Woods\,” the vast Punkhorn Parkla
 nds is a testament to the power of locals to influence land preservation. 
 Our wooded and hilly route includes ponds and bogs\, including a rare quak
 ing bog. Tuck this one in early and have the rest of the holiday weekend a
 head!\nMeet at 7:45 to sign in and stretch. We’ll begin walking promptly
  at 8. Hosted by Sue Moynihan with Sweep TBD. Read to the bottom for direc
 tions to our meeting point. \nPrerequisite: Instructional clinic\, previou
 s intermediate-level walks of 4+ miles\, and ability to meet the planned d
 istance and pace\nDistance: 4 miles. No shorter or turn-back option.\nPace
 : Moderate-to-fast\, 21/22-min miles\, with occasional brief water stops. 
 Pace is intended to keep heart rates up and build stamina.\nTerrain: Uneve
 n\, hilly hard-pack trail with rocks and roots. Supportive\, trail-type fo
 otwear a must.\nFor Your Safety: Consider the weather forecast when making
  your RSVP decision. WATER MUST BE CARRIED ON ALL WALKS! In consideration 
 of personal and group safety\, if you arrive without water\, you will not 
 be allowed to walk. Dress for the weather and choose appropriate footwear 
 for trail conditions. Use repellent to protect yourself from ticks\, which
  are active year round.**Display blaze orange for visibility and safety du
 ring spring turkey season.**\n\n 	Limit 1 walk per day.\n 	Wear your CCNW 
 ID badge.\n 	No mud baskets\, please (tripping hazard)\n 	Carry bug spray.
  Consider the need for sun protection.\n 	No water or restroom. Bring tiss
 ue in a plastic bag in case of a bio break need.\n 	Kindly update your RSV
 P at least 24 hours in advance of walk start time if your plans change. Th
 is allows the Host to plan and accommodate other walkers.\n\nWalk may be c
 anceled\, changed\, or rescheduled for weather or other reasons. Cancellat
 ion decision will be made at least 2 hours in advance. **Check your email 
 (including spam) AND this walk listing and comments\, below\, before drivi
 ng to the walk.** If a walk is canceled\, registrants will receive a syste
 m-generated email\, and the walk will no longer be visible in the event li
 sting or on the calendar. \nDirections: Take Stony Brook Road in Brewster 
 to Run Hill Road. Travel past the transfer station and continue on the nar
 row road. The trailhead is located on the left immediately after the road 
 turns to gravel. 686 Run Hill Road is the closest street address to the pa
 rking lot.
