DESCRIPTION:\n\n 	Advanced Walk - Nickerson State Park - Five Ponds (Big an
 d Little Cliff\, Flax\, Higgins and Eel Ponds)  and hill climb to see the
  old\, wooden water tower - 7.5 miles\n\nFor Your Safety: Consider the wea
 ther forecast when making your RSVP decision. WATER MUST BE CARRIED ON ALL
  WALKS! In consideration of personal and group safety\, if you arrive with
 out water\, you will not be allowed to walk. Dress for the weather and pro
 tect yourself from the elements.  Choose appropriate footwear for trail c
 onditions.  Use repellent to protect yourself from ticks\, which are acti
 ve year-round.  Wear blaze orange during hunting season (except for Sunda
 ys).\n\nMeet at 8:45 a.m. for sign-in and stretching to begin walking prom
 ptly at 9:00 a.m. Hosted by Barbie Liftman with Sweep TBD.\n—Prerequisit
 e: Instructional Clinic\, prior CCNW walk of 5+ miles and ability to walk 
 at a moderate\, sustained pace with few breaks.\n—Distance: 7.5 miles. N
 o turn-back or shorter option.\n—Pace: Moderate pace with few breaks.\n
 —Terrain: All wooded trails\, lots of roots and rocks.  Modest elevatio
 n gains with one steep hill.  Carbide tips only.  Sturdy hiking shoes or
  boots recommended.  This 7.5 mile walk around five ponds is entirely woo
 ded and affords spectacular pond views and photo ops.\n\n—Limit 1 walk p
 er day.\n—Wear your CCNW ID badge.\n—Restrooms and water not available
 . Bring tissue in a plastic bag in case of a bio break need.\n—If your p
 lans change\, kindly cancel your booking at least 24 hours in advance of w
 alk start time so other walkers may join.\n\nMass DCR parking pass or paid
  parking is required.  Purchase paid parking at the kiosk at the entrance
  to the park or purchase an annual state park pass online at the Massachus
 etts DCR website.  \n\nWalk may be canceled\, changed\, or rescheduled fo
 r weather or other reasons. Cancellation decision will be made at least 2 
 hours in advance. Check your email (including spam) before driving to the 
 walk.  If a walk is canceled\, registrants will receive a system-generate
 d email\, and the walk will no longer be visible in the event listing or o
 n the calendar.\n\nDirections: Enter Nickerson State Park at main gate.  
  Take the FIRST major left towards Flax Pond.  Do not park at Flax Pond 
 but follow road to the end and park at the Cliff Ponds lot.
